Thursday in Elizabeth at Tommy's Pizza was just an ordinary warm August summer day. This is our 38th year on Fairmount Ave and as usual at this time of the year we wake up pick out our vegetables from the garden, make our dough, bake our bread and get our morning delivery from Centanni's Pork store in Peterstown, We then decide what we are going to put on our specials for the day, play around on the computer and print out a new specials menu for the day.
When Tony decides what he is going to prepare for the day he thinks about each and every customer that he knows will be dining at Tommy's that day. You just never know who's going to walk in but Tony has a pretty good idea, Mr Sal and his grandson, Mr & Mrs Vella, Vito Giannetta, Jennifer and Dorian, Vito Mazza, the Vella brothers, Vito Cassano, Russ Demaio, Melissa, the Port Authority employees, the Newark Airport employees, the guests at all the hotels near Newark airport, the Board of Education staff or a catering order for the staff at Square One Auto in Rahway, the list goes on and on.....
Yesterday a beautiful family (Karla and her son's Carlos and Ethan) from Texas landed at Newark airport and were visiting New Jersey for the first time and after their long flight, rented a car and were in search of an Italian restaurant. They arrived at Tommy's and finally able to sit down and relax. We shared our daily specials with them and helped them order and learned of their plight. Karla the mom told us they she found Tommy's on social media and chose to come because the food looked so appetizing and it was so close to the airport. We were so grateful that they chose Tommy's and were even more happy that they loved our food!
We are truly blessed at Tommy's to be able to meet so many people that land at Newark Airport and make Tommy's their first destination for a homemade Italian meal.

This morning we woke up and found a beautiful review on Facebook and it was such a delight to read that we just had to share the note with you. We know in this fast paced world there are so many businesses who are chasing volume and profits, but here at Tommy's, our goal is simply to cook with Love and make everyone simply sit, relax and enjoy a home cooked meal made fresh personally for them.
